Have you decided to expand into international markets?
In two months, we develop a strategy for building an international business: we select markets based on evidence, design the product and business model, calculate the economics and capital requirements, develop the offering, and prepare the legal architecture. Your team comes away with working documents they can use to start the launch.
About us
We are entrepreneurs. Since 1999, we have been launching, growing and selling companies across international markets. We have built and sold startups in the US, Europe and the Middle East, established investment funds, and managed capital at Rothschild & Co and TrueNorth Capital, with over €200 billion in assets under management.
Our projects include an InsurTech startup in New York that raised $32 million, a CleanTech fund in Ireland, and more than 60 businesses launched in 18 countries.
That experience adds up to a rare competence: building international businesses that become liquid assets. Their structure, economics and rights are clear to international partners, banks and investors, and operations depend on the team and processes rather than the owner. The Strategy is our core service: in two months, we design this business and get it ready to launch.
When you need a strategy
You have decided to expand internationally. The next step requires people who have built this kind of business before: to select markets based on data, develop a business model that generates sales in those markets and creates a liquid business, build the financial model, and design the legal architecture. People with this experience are rarely available.
The questions this work answers:
- In which markets do customers buy our product, and where are we competitive?
- What do we sell in these markets, to whom, and at what price?
- What does the financial model look like: in what order do we enter markets, how much capital do we need, and when?
- What legal structure does the business need, and what should we ask the lawyers to do?
What we do
We work in two-week sprints. Each sprint ends with a deliverable that you review and accept, and can use immediately.
Plan
We examine shareholder goals and what the business already has: product, team, capital, reputation and connections. We develop hypotheses about the asset to build and define what to research and calculate to develop the strategy.
Product and market selection
Drawing on our experience, we develop hypotheses about the liquid business to build and the product to take to market. We then test them against market data: the number of buyers, their purchasing power, the competitors already operating there, and what their products offer. We compare your product with what is on the market and identify what needs to be added.
Business model and financial model
We develop the model for the new business: what we sell, how we sell it, in which markets and in what order, the resources and people required, the costs, and where we source capital and on what terms. We bring this together in a P&L: revenue by market and period, costs, the timing of capital requirements, and scenarios that show under which conditions the business is financially viable.
Offering and pricing
We develop the offering for the selected markets: product lines, pricing, additional revenue streams and discount policy.
Legal architecture
We design the structure: where the entities and IP rights sit, how to protect trademarks in target markets, and the requirements for customer contracts and data processing. We turn this into a brief for your lawyers.
